This is my newest acrylic painting, "hot off the easel" so to speak. This is a painting I have "futzed with" for oh, at least a month. It started during a lovely beach trip in October. I sat in a small rental cottage on the coast and looked out at the surf while I painted (no water paintings either...I'm weird that way!) Obviously, I didn't finish it there, but rather it was in its "ugly duckiling" stage - where it's coming together but nowhere near enough that it looks good.
Then I have worked on it here and there over the past several weeks, tweaking a color here, adding something there, changing the foreground about a gazillion times. This is usually not me. I'm usually pretty good about finishing up a painting and not tweaking little things too much...but this one gave my problems. I think it's because it uses many similiar colors throughout the painting, and I am all about contrast...but that may just be me gabbing. ;)
I finally finished it last night (after THINKING I was done with it the night before, but no!, it needed more white). I guess it is officially "done" now as I have scanned it and printed out prints to sell at my holiday sales this weekend....but who knows....I have a feeling it may see my brush yet again if it sticks around for long...this painting just doesn't like to be "done".
