New Paintings for a New Year

Well, last night was just fabulous. Let me tell you all about it.

I spent a nice chunk of time downstairs in what I am now lovingly refering to as "the craft cave"...aka, my studio. I had been working on a piece for a show with the IEA in the spring, and even though that was completed, I was still hankering to play with the wax. So, I started melting and painting and playing...and voila! I created these two beauties! This first one is by far my favorite. I am just really digging the line drawing as I am such a fan of simple, graphic line drawings anyways..and I love the stark white behind it and the colors, and yeah...it was one of those things that was completely unplanned and made my heart swoon. yay.

This is a second smaller piece that I did with the same techniques but different subject matter. I made a MESS last night - and had a blast. good times. I've been playing around with a lot of other techniques and whatnot and seeing what works together and I am just really enjoying it. I can't wait for my upcoming classes so we can all share the excitement of hot wax together!

Yeah, that sounds a bit kinky! oops! :)

I'm swooning too - the poppies are incredible. I think you're really onto something here.
