Whoa, is that title ever a loaded statement.
First off, here is my very latest Encaustic painting. It all started with the one on my most recent last post, which was a painting done in response to another artist's work that I was trying to "mingle" with. It is a diptych project and I wanted my half of it to go with hers as much as possible, while still I having my own unique look. I really enjoyed making that one and kind of liked this new direction, though it is so different and organic for me. I mean, no collage in it, a very muted design, but still round organic shapes and lines, which I do love. I made the one pictured above the following day and just fell in love with it. It's different and I don't know how well they will be received, but I can't wait to make more of them and see where it takes me. Huzzah for hot wax.
New Things are all around me, besides just on the painting front.
I am officially 33 weeks pregnant. For those not in the "preggo zone", the average pregnancy lasts somewhere between 37-41 weeks. First pregnancies are at 40-41 weeks usually. That means...even is she comes out on the late side of things, I only have about 7 weeks left before I become a mom.
Exciting? oh yes.
Dreadfully frightening? Yes, a bit of that too.
It's always been a struggle balancing work, art, house, life without going crazy from it all. Now, I will add a wee little one to the mix and see how it goes. I know it will be fine in the end, and wonderful and crazy and joy...but right now it is still so close and yet so abstract.
I will be VERY busy in the next couple of weeks gearing up for the annual SE Area Artwalk which takes place in Portland on March 1st & 2nd. So, bear with me if my posts are sparse...but know that I will share my new work I make! And, if you are in the area that weekend, stop by to see it in LIVE and in person!
