Gearing Up for a Show

First of all, I need to admit something. And that is the fact that I have been OBSESSED with making art over the past week and a half. Not just into making art, or enjoying it, or even letting it "rip"...but full-fledged obsession. I wanted to make sure that I had a wide selection of new pieces for the SE Artwalk this weekend, and well...let's just say that spurred me into an art-making frenzy.

I've been creating art like crazy and boy, do I have a lot to show for it. These three little pieces (5.5" x 5.5") are some of my favorites as they show off the beautiful almost golden luster of the wood behind them (mahoghany plywood), while utilizing one of my favorite images of nature - the wise old tree. I even made a larger piece in this same theme to go with them...but you'll just have to come to the Artwalk if you want to see that one!

Speaking of that, the SE PORTLAND AREA ARTWALK is THIS WEEKEND - March 1-2nd, from 10am-5pm, with over 90 artists at 52 locations showing their art to the world (well, portland!) I will be at spot #36, 3412 SE Division St., at the Hedge House Restaurant. It's in a beautiful old cottage home and I will have large pieces up on the walls, smaller pieces adorning their front porch and LIVE FREE Encaustic painting demos. How bout that!? I will also have reproduction prints and relief printmaking pieces for sale...and did I mention that the restaurant has fabulous food...and beer? I mean, how could you not stop by?!

I'm really excited about this show because it will be my last show before I am a mother! I will be taking all of March, April, and most of May off to enjoy my brand new baby...and so I think this is why I have been working so feverishly on art for this. I have so much creative juice that I need to "get out there" before those sleepless nights of new-motherhood! So, wish me luck and sunshine for this weekend. And if you do get a chance, stop by and say hi!

Hi Amy,
Love your new stuff! I hope you manage to squeeze in some art time after the baby comes. I can't believe that she is almost here. Good wishes and best of luck, love and joy to you and J!
